OUR MISSION
Empower Spanish-speaking women in Central Texas through a comprehensive program dedicated to whole-person well-being and development. By providing culturally relevant, compassionate support, we equip women with the tools they need to live healthy, independent, happy lives and to break the cycle of intimate partner violence.
Why We Do What We Do
The Reality
- 1 in 3 women experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime.
- Women may make up to 7 attempts to leave their abuser before successfully escaping.
- 70% of children who witness abuse are at risk of becoming victims or abusers themselves.
Language barriers mean Spanish-speaking women in Austin face unique challenges in finding culturally and linguistically appropriate services to escape and recover from intimate partner violence.
Our Solution
Aldea’s transformative program empowers women to achieve their highest potential by providing:
- Support 100% in Spanish: We offer all of our services in our participants’ preferred language to remove barriers to accessing care.
- Culturally Sensitive, Holistic Care: Our approach honors the experiences, cultures, and strengths of our Aldeanas (villagers) with comprehensive support for physical, mental, and social well-being.
- A Strong Community: At Aldea, women find a “village” of allies who uplift one another, reinforcing empowerment and resilience.
What We Offer
At Aldea, we provide a variety of services to support the physical, social, and emotional well-being of Spanish-speaking Latina women, including:
- Comprehensive medical evaluation (mind, body, spirit)
- Comprehensive social evaluation (finance, housing, etc)
- Action plan and follow-up
- In-person education and health workshops
- Individualized mentoring and coaching sessions
- Specialized educational videos
- Access to our resource library
- Referrals to relevant organizations
- Membership in our community of women
